Carlo Maria Barile

Born in 1989 in Ferrara, in 2008 he graduated in organ and organ composition cum laude from the "Niccolò Piccinni" Conservatory in Bari with Margherita Quarta. In 2011 he obtained the Konzertexamen in organ at the "Hochschule für Musik" in Detmold (Germany) with Tomasz A. Nowak. In 2016 he obtained a second level Professional Master's Degree cum laude in Early Music at the Conservatory "San Pietro a Majella", with Antonio Florio. He continued his refinement under the guidance of teachers such as Ullrich Böhme in Leipzig (organ literature) and Naji Hakim in Paris (organ improvisation). He also studied piano and jazz drums with Vito di Modugno and Michele Di Monte at the music school "Il Pentagramma" in Bari, where he worked as a piano and theory teacher, and in 2007 he attended the 5 Week Summer Performance Programme at the "Berklee College of Music in Boston". He has given solo recitals in Europe and the USA as an organist, harpsichordist and jazz pianist in venues such as the Thomaskirche in Leipzig (Bach Orgelfestival 2021 and two organ vespers for the Motetten series in March 2020, just before the coronavirus lockdown), the Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola - Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Basilica of Valére, Sion (44th Festival international de l'Orgue Ancienne et de la Musique Ancienne and Châteaux et musées en fête 2016), the Markuskirche in Munich (Münchner Orgelsommer since 2015), the Cathedral of Toledo (Batalla de Organos, Festival de Música El Greco en Toledo and XIII Festival de Órgano de Toledo), Notre Dame des Champs in Paris, St. John's Church in Saarbrücken, the Petruzzelli Theatre in Bari (for the Bif&st Bari International Film Festival from 2014 to 2017) and the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples (2017-18 season, on harpsichord in the opera "Siroe, Re di Persia" by Leonardo Vinci in concert form, conducted by Antonio Florio). In July 2023, he completed his Bachelor's degree in Church Music at the "Hochschule für katholische Kirchenmusik & Musikpädagogik" in Regensburg, where he had a teaching assignment for practical piano playing in schools in the academic year 2022/2023. During his studies in Germany, he also worked as a church musician in both Catholic and Lutheran settings, specifically at the Evangelical Lutheran Christus-Gemeinde in Lage and the catholic parish "Heiliger Geist" in Regensburg.
